Penguin's Alien Resurrection Review June 7/99

Alright, here goes.

I fucking love Alien Resurrection. It upheld the standard of the series with strength and skill. Every actor was well-cast and did their part
perfectly, and I actually ended up as attached to characters in this movie as I was to others in the first two films, unlike Alien 3, which,
though I enjoyed it, didn't have too many characters to latch onto.

Aside from the fact that Sigourney was again acting with oscar-worthy skill and Winona tackled an unusual role with perfection, Christie
was just a badass character and Vriess was surprisingly sympathetic considering how little he actually did when you think about it. It fit
well in the Alien universe, while managing to be action-packed, tense, plus had the "visually-stunning" aspect of Alien 3 in a whole new
light.

And yes, I liked the Newborn. It was Ripley's opposite, the alien hopped up on human DNA, and it fucked her up. That's what made it
intriguing and cool. The way it had good and bad sides, the way it mirrored her in a way that drove her back to her human self in the
end... almost.

And I even liked the bloody score! Not that I didn't like all of the scores of these movies.

So there! You'll all disagree and mock. And I won't understand it to save my life. So deal.
