Filmex's SOUTH PARK Review July 2/99
As stated previously, I am not a SP fan... I've probably seen 2 1/2 episodes all in all, but, the movies is part of this great film summer, so I thought I'd check it out.

Boy, I'll tell ya, I laughed all the way thru this hting. I never really thought their shows were about anything, and the fact that this was such a biting satire on censorship, the MPAA, the whole media-corrupts-youth madness, our penchant to drop bombs to solve every dispute, it really caught me by surprise. Wow! And the fact that AMC had someone stationed by the door to keep kids from sneaking in, something i had never seen before, SO played into what the film was all about, it was just incredible.

What REALLY impressed me were Trey Parker's songs and lyrics. Sheesh!! I've seen half a dozen Broadway musicals that didn't employ tunes this catchy and memorable, and their great production is in such direct contrast with the low-rent animation, even THAT was funny! Really hilarious. And, I've finally had Heaven and Hell distilled down to workable concepts at long last.

I just can't wait til Cigar and Mad's Dad weight in with the Canadian point of view. Next time their's trouble on the board, now we know who to kill.
